For young people

The MARTA Center offers educational and informative classes for young people on building healthy relationships, recognizing and responding to violence, gender equality, and gender stereotypes. The classes are based on non-formal education methods, encouraging participants to actively engage in discussions and train critical thinking.

Lesson duration: ~ 90 minutes

Number of participants: up to 30

Price: 295 EUR per lesson + transportation costs from Riga.

The lessons are designed to be adaptable for both elementary and high school age youth. The content of the lessons can be adapted to the needs of the participants.

Lesson descriptions

How to teach relationships? Safe sexual and romantic relationships among young people.

Lesson goal: to promote informative and knowledge-based discussion among young people about building respectful and equal relationships, to provide skills to build healthy relationships, being aware of the importance of consent, as well as to recognize the signs of unhealthy relationships.

In the lesson we will discuss:

  • the basic principles of healthy, respectful relationships

  • signs of unhealthy relationships, their connection to myths and stereotypes existing in society

  • the importance of conscious and informed consent in romantic and sexual relationships

  • making responsible decisions about initiating sexual relationships

Courage to act! Types of violence and their recognition, actions of eyewitnesses.

The purpose of the lesson: to develop young people's skills to recognize and act appropriately and safely in unhealthy and violent situations. To practice critically analyzing interactions with peers and relationship situations, to promote the ability to express one's position and initiative in difficult situations.

In the lesson we will discuss:

  • types of violence, signs of unhealthy relationships

  • myths and stereotypes related to violence, including the phenomenon of victim blaming

  • the importance of eyewitness actions and types of involvement

What is gender equality and what does it eat?

The aim of the lesson: to promote young people's understanding of the impact of gender stereotypes on our relationships with ourselves and our fellow human beings. To practice critically analyzing the assumptions that exist in popular culture, the media, and society in general, and their impact on our daily interactions, career choices, romantic relationships, and the risks of violence.

In the lesson we will discuss:

  • What is gender equality and gender stereotypes?

  • how gender roles in society affect our feelings, actions, behavior, and emotions

  • how unhealthy societal expectations and stereotypes can be linked to violence and unhealthy relationships

Risks of human trafficking and how to protect yourself

The purpose of the lesson: to promote the ability of young people to recognize and protect themselves and their peers from possible situations of human trafficking and sexual exploitation.

In the lesson we will discuss:

  • What is human trafficking, its different forms and types

  • how to recognize risks and spot unsafe situations and offers

  • How to recognize grooming

  • internet safety
