Project "Change of traditional gender roles - preventing trafficking in human beings!"  Project developers: Managing Partner - Åland Islands, the Aland Islands Peace Institute                              Latvian partner - Association Resource Center for Women "Marta"  The project is funded by the European Union`s European Regional Development Fund of the Central Baltic Sea Region INTERREG IV A Programme for 2007 to 2013 within  Project objectives:  1) To develop sustainable cooperation between partners in Latvian and the Aland Islands and to establish a common strategy for promoting gender equality and anti-trafficking;  2) Create a girls` and boys` group leaders` network of Latvian and the Aland Islands and to develop youth competence of gender equality;  3) Change the existing power relations between women and men and eliminate existing gender stereotypes, the involvement of the Latvian and the Aland Islands, young girls `and boys` group activities;  4) Assessing the Latvian and the Aland Islands, researchers established monitoring and evaluation mechanisms in the control group comparisons to determine the personality development and change in attitude among girls and boys teams;  5) promote public awareness and, through information campaigns and seminars for education and social workers in state and local government employees to push the social and political agenda on the challenges of gender roles and power structures as well as their links to human trafficking.  The project target group: youth organizations, youth, social workers and public employees of local government institutions, politicians  Project activities:  o public awareness through campaigns, discussions and seminars;  o boy`s and girls` group leaders, 3 levels of leadership training Latvian and the Aland Islands;  o boys and girls in group activities Aland Islands and the Latvian;  o conduct a study to assess the boys `and girls` groups of methods effects on social identity, self-esteem, gender stereotypes, tolerance and inclusion in society;  Project duration: October 2009 - December 2011  Project Site: Aland Islands (main island and the archipelago) and the Latvian - Riga, Kurzeme, Zemgale and Vidzeme.  Contact:  Project Coordinator Dita Lace  Resource Centre for Women "Marta"  Phone: +371 67378539  E-mail: centrs@marta.lv
